 The Royal Festival Tour in Ghana welcomes participants to experience and explore the Asanti culture, and traditions.  The Gold Coast – Ghana is reaching out to you to explore the best of its culture and history on this 10-day tour. Your point of entry is to the vibrant capital city of Accra. Traveling comfortably by road, you will be immersed in the traditions of the Ashanti Kingdom of Kumasi.  You will visit historical and cultural sites, the slave dungeons in Cape Coast and Elmina Castle (UNESCO World Heritage sites).  One of the many highlights of your tour will be to visit the Nkyinkim Museum, where African Art, history and performance takes center stage to beautifully weave the rich tapestry of the region.    There will be time to visit the traditional African markets, beaches, and villages. Ghana is not just a trip, it is an Experience!

Day 1: Akwaaba to Ghana!
  • Arrive at Accra airport.
  • Akwaaba! Welcome to Ghana.
  • Meet, greet and transfer to your hotel.
  • Check into your rooms
  • Brief orientation by your Kola Nut Travel representative 
  • Welcome Dinner at Hotel

Day 2: Accra City Tour
  • After breakfast pick up from hotel
  • Visit the National Museum of Ghana
  • Visit W.E.B Du Bois Centre
  • Drive through Old Accra – Jamestown
  • Visit Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Black Star ad Independence Square
  • Shopping at Arts and Craft market
  • Meet Tailors and dressmakers for custom-made clothes  Overnight: Hotel in Accra

Day 3:Farm to Factory Tour
  • After breakfast check-out depart to `Kumasi
  • Visit a cocoa farm and chocolate factory
  • Continue to Kumasi Arrive and check-into your hotel Rest of day free

Day 4: Ghana Royal Festival Tour
  • Breakfast
  • Arrive at the King’s Court to participate in the Akwasidae Festival
  • Tour the Manhyia Palace Museum
  • Explore Kumasi and rest of day free for shopping and relaxation 
  • Overnight: Hotel in Kumasi

Day 5: Naming Cermony & Craft Villages
  • Pick up after breakfast
  • Participate in naming ceremony where you get your Ghanaian names
  • Visit Kente weaving village to learn how kente is made Visit Ntonso for Adinkra craft making
  • Drive through the largest market in West-Africa 
  • Hotel in Kumasi

Day 6: Kumasi-Assin-Manso-Elmina
  • Checkout after breakfast
  • Drive to Cape Coast, enroute stop at Assin Manso – site of Slave River for last bath by enslaved Africans
  • A tour of Cape Coast Castle Dungeons
  • Check into hotel 
  • Overnight: Beach Hotel in Elmina

Day 7: Ghana Royal Festival - Kakum National Park/Elmina Castle
  • Depart after breakfast to experience the “Canopy Walkway” at Kakum National Park
  • Visit the Elmina Castle Dungeons
  • Return to Hotel Rest of day free for rest & relaxation 
  • Overnight: Beach Hotel in Elmina

Day 8: Drumming & Dance Session
  • Breakfast and check-out
  • Morning free at leisure
  • Meet your instructor for a workshop in Ghana and African drumming and dance forms
  • Transfer to hotel for check-in 
  • Overnight: Beach Hotel in Elmina

Day 9: Elmina & Accra
  • Depart Elmina to Accra
  • Arrive and rest of day free on your own to go for last minute shopping and packing.
