Senegal & The Gambia
The West African tour is very popular, because you get two countries for the price of one. Not only does the participant explore many parts of Senegal, they travel by road to The Gambia. In Dakar, the capital city of Senegal , you will take a brief ride on the ferry to Goree Island. On Goree visitors learn about the Door of No Return. The Door is the last connection that Enslaved Africans had with their motherland prior to boarding a ship to cross the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas. The official language is French, with English also widely spoken. In 2018 Senegal opened The Museum of Black Civilization, which has been met with rave reviews.
This tour will include travel by road to Saly, one of Senegal's beach resorts, and to the capital city of Gambia, Banjul. Gambia is known for its nature reserves and the ancestral home of Alex Halen in Juffureh.
