Cairo & Lake Nasser Cruise

     The Cairo and Lake Nasser tour includes 3 nights in Cairo, and 4 nights on Lake Nasser.  Lake Nasser, also known as Lake Nubia, is one of the largest manmade lakes in the world.  The Lake is located in southern Egypt and northern Sudan.  It was created as a result of the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the late 1960s.  This project displaced over 100,000 residents and caused a potential catastrophe that would submerge ancient Egyptian Monuments underwater. 

     A worldwide campaign brought in  50 nations who contributed enough funds to finance a 20-year reconstruction project to move these sacred monuments to higher ground and provide housing for those displaced.  Today the Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae are designated as one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. 

     The Lake Nasser Cruise will stop along the shore to visit and learn about ancient Egyptian History not seen on the Nile Cruise.  We start in Cairo on August 24, and end on September 1, 2023.
