| Viva
Las Vegas! In the middle of the desert, Las Vegas is like a
mirage. The colors of the casinos and their neon lights contrast sharply
with the dry and barren land around. What brings you to Vegas is clear:
it's all about having fun, more precisely, having fun and gambling. And
that is exactly what Vegas offers: mind-boggling, out-of-this-world, oversized
casinos in every size, shape and theme. Eiffel towers, Roman palaces, Egyptian
pyramids, even Mardi Gras and the Brooklyn Bridge! The sights of Europe,
Africa and the United States all come to you in one destination. |

| The
Las Vegas Strip at the heart of this playland sparkles like
no other place on earth. The hub of the action is at the Flamingo Road
intersection. Here's where you find Paris, Bellagio, Caesars Palace, and
the Flamingo. You can also walk from this area to the Mirage, Treasure
Island, and the Venetian. The southern part of the Strip includes Mandalay
Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, New York-New York, and MGM Grand. Other spots a
bit farther away include New Frontier, Stardust, Westward Ho, Circus Circus,
and the Stratosphere. |
 |
| Las
Vegas has become a family destination too. These days you can
spend your entire time in the city enjoying attractions other than the
requisite gaming options. If thrill rides are your antidote for the hectic
life, Las Vegas offers a multitude of choices for adventurous spirits.
Motion simulators can be found throughout the city as a technological alternative
to the roller coaster. Buffet restaurants are a cost-effective way of feeding
the family and meeting everybody's needs. Dont miss the Fremont Street
Experience with its overhead light show that changes every half hour or
so. And most of all, just wandering the strip and ducking in and out of
casinos and hotels provides a seemingly endless panorama of gaudy architecture,
theme fountains and funky ambiance. |
 |
| When
you tire of gambling and the commercial hype, close by in Boulder
City just 30 minutes away is the Hoover Dam with plenty of sights to see
and tours to take there. North about 80 miles is a State Park called The
Valley of Fire that has beautiful rock formations and petroglyphs.
To the west, straight down Charleston Blvd, there is Red Rock Canyon for
wonderful hiking and rock climbing. |
 |
| Vegas
offers all of this and more with no jet-setting necessary,
and although Las Vegas is all about money, there are so many free or at
least very cheap shows on offer, that it is still easy to have a great
time without spending too much. In fact, some of the bigger, better known
casinos offer guests free drinks while they are gambling. So, stand around
near your favorite gambling table and order away; just don't forget to
tip the waiters. |
