| Europe
is and has always been a mainstay for travelers. For it is here that most
Americans have their roots. From Amsterdam to Athens, Paris to Prague,
Stockholm to Seville – nowhere else on the planet has so much history,
architecture and diverse cultures as Europe. With the formation of the
European Union and the introduction of the Euro Dollar, travel between
most countries is a streamlined affair. |
 |
| At
Kola Nut Travel, we highlight France and especially Paris as
our featured destination. We offer both mainstream tours and a customized
Paris tour that has special appeal for African Americans. |
 |
|
 |
And
through our partners we bring you the rest of Europe too, from
Scandinavia to the Iberian Peninsula and from the Baltic to the Mediterranean.
Tell us where you want to go and we’ll arrange an itinerary for you. |
 |
| France
is not just for romantics. Where else can you find hundreds
of types of wine, hundreds of brands of cheese and even a hundred kinds
of olives? Yes, France is food, drink and much more – from gothic cathedrals
to ornate châteaux. France challenges taste buds and dazzles the
eye. The lure of the south is the beaches of the famed Riviera, while the
north borders the Benelux countries. To the west it’s pastoral farmland
and the rugged coast of the Atlantic, and to the east lie the Alps and
Germany. |
 |
| But
it is Paris, the “City of Light”, that shines in our imagination.
Wander the hallways of the Louvre Museum, ride to the top of the Eiffel
Tour, enjoy a cocktail on the Champs D'Elysée, take a cruise on
the River Seine, and dine on the rue St. Germain in the Latin Quarter.
Explore the Paris of the early 20th century and walk in the footsteps of
James Baldwin, Langston Hughes, and Chester Himes. Click
here for a sample of one of our past “Paris Noir” tours. |

| Scandinavia,
though popular, remains one of the more expensive European regions to visit,
while the British Isles overall are only moderately expensive. Western
and Central Europe are also still moderately expensive, as is Russia and
the Baltic countries. These days the real bargains are to be found in the
Eastern European countries of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania.
Spain and Portugal are still relatively inexpensive compared to the rest
of Europe, especially when one gets away from the big cities. Although
Italy has become more costly, there are still bargains to be found and
the same can be said for Greece. Over the past decade, Turkey has also
become a popular destination with travelers looking for good deals. |
 |
| Europe
is blessed with an outstanding rail network, linking virtually
any country and city on the continent. The trains are on time and represent
great value for intrepid souls who want to visit more than one country.
Another plus is the attention to facilities for seniors, making Europe
a popular choice for many retired people. There are also conscious efforts
to accommodate people with disabilities, providing a convenience that is
often lacking in other regions of the world. |
 |
| You
might want to consider a tour that includes two or three countries.
Distances between places are relatively short and it is possible to get
a taste of several cultures all in one vacation. Another ideal way to experience
different flavors of Europe is with a multi-country cruise. Be sure to
check our Cruise Section
for samples of Mediterranean and northern European cruise options. |
